GHOSTWRITING SERVICES AND FEES

I know it’s not easy to fully grasp what a ghostwriter does, especially for an author whose motivation is to share their story with family, friends, and associates.

My usual process is to interview, write, review, edit, publish. But because my services are so highly personal and customized, I’ve had many clients drop into that process at various stages. Have you already written a manuscript? Created a collection of unrelated vignettes? Gathered enough articles, letters, and memorabilia to write a story?

Whatever you have—from nothing to a lot—and however vague your concept may be, I can help.

My years of working with authors have helped me develop a multi-dimension skill set that will carry you from where you are today to holding your finished book in your hands:

  • Interviewer—questions and guidance that reveal the core of your experiences

  • Writer—craft and nuance that will keep the reader engaged

  • Editor—revise and reorganize for maximum reader enjoyment

  • Researcher—meaningful context enriches the text

  • Fact Checker—statements (though not stories) confirmed as accurate

  • Diviner—discoverer of hidden knowledge or truth

  • Reader advocate—a fluid and interesting story that works for them

  • Book designer—attractive and professional interior design

  • Project manager—forward momentum to a satisfactory conclusion

Now the million-dollar question. How much will all this cost? (Happily, not a million dollars!)

Generally speaking, it’s difficult to give a price for a legacy memoir because of the many variables. In the extremes, I recently finished a project for $5,000, and I’ve had a project top $50,000. Think of it like a vacation. Are you going to spend a long weekend in New York City, or are you taking a trip around the world? (Either way, a legacy memoir will last a whole lot longer!)

I prefer to charge by the hour. After working with dozens of clients and writing or editing over thirty legacy memoirs, I know that each author’s process is different. Some are done with three drafts while others might go over ten. And with an hourly rate, you’ll never be cut short by a formula-driven method. You can monitor your investment as we go.

Please feel free to contact me for a very informative discussion about your project and how I can help you bring your book to life.
